I'm not sure we can't multitask at all. My experience tells me that it is possible to multitask on a couple of low level activities that do not require enormous concentration - so we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Anything that involves a heightened use of concentration however can NOT be fully and effectivelly multitasked - there will always be a degradation in quality of outcome, in my experience.
