Richard, Thanks for the note. I love the concept of Continuous Partial Attention! I think your spot on with that!

I want to broadly support your position here Tim. I'm not sure we can't multitask at all. My experience tells me that it is possible to multitask on a couple of low level activities that do not require enormous concentration - so we can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Anything that involves a heightened use of concentration however can NOT be fully and effectivelly multitasked - there will always be a degradation in quality of outcome, in my experience. I got a lot of positive feedback from EMC people to my article which I published on my blog here - it is about the difference between Multitasking and Continuous Partial Attention (CPA) http://richardmaybury.co.uk/2009/02/continuous-partial-attention-multitasking-and-data-overload/ .

Jake,<br>Thanks for the comment, To which presentation are you referring too? Regarding xCP I think if you look only at the technology i see how you can draw that conclusion. However when you look at the business solutions that are being built leveraging xCP is the real differentiator.

You must work for EMC IIG. The presentation was lacking in vision and further left me believing that EMC IIG is 'lost in space'. By the way, xCP is not new ... it's a rebranding of their former products such as BPM and Taskspace.
